Recent research cited by Korn Ferry found that organizations are experiencing a growing number of deepfake-related attacks, with executives and board members frequently among the primary targets. In many cases, attackers pose as trusted colleagues, advisors, or business associates in an attempt to obtain confidential information, authorize transactions, or gain access to company systems.

Board members often have access to some of an organization’s most sensitive information, including strategic plans, merger and acquisition activity, financial data, executive communications, and corporate governance materials. Because of their visibility, authority, and access to confidential information, directors are attractive targets for cybercriminals seeking to exploit trust within an organization and gain access to valuable corporate assets or information.
