Taxpayers Faced With $10,000,000 Embezzlement

Long Time Government Employee Arrested for Fraud

According to a recent story on Fox 10 News in Phoenix, the Chief Procurement Officer for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) is believed to have “defrauded the state of up to $10 million” over the course of 9 years.

Diverting Funds Into Personal Accounts

Although the details have not been revealed as the investigation continues, court documents indicate that the suspect set up a bank account with the same name as a legitimate business with which AHCCCS did business. As payments for services to the vendor were made, funds were siphoned off by the suspect to his fraudulent account.
