Hackers Spelling Mistake Was Key

A compromised computer system at Bangladesh Bank allowed hackers to steal credentials to initiate transfers out of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York totaling almost $1 billion. Ultimately, a spelling mistake on one of the transfer instructions raised enough eyebrows to halt the on-going transfers after $80 million had already been stolen.

The Bangladesh Bank is now working to recover the money.
